Silks should be hand washed in lukewarm or cool water. Always use a mild, soapy detergent for fine washables that does not contain bleach. In any case, do not use or add any type of bleach. Wash gently. Do not wring or rub silks in water, as silk is 15% to 30% weaker when wet. Do not soak silks in water for long periods of time, as this may cause fading. For added protection against color loss, add up to three tablespoons of white vinegar to a pail or small basin amount of water. This will rejuvenate colors that have paled or yellowed.

RINSING SILKS AFTER WASH.
Rinse and squeeze silk garments gently but thoroughly in fresh lukewarm or cool water. Remember not to wring or twist garments. Rinse till all the soap till it is removed.

DRYING SILKS AFTER RINSING.
Wrap your garment in a towel to remove excess water. At this point, the garment is ready to be ironed while it is still damp. Never let the silk garment dry completely. If the garment is allowed to sit and dry completely, it is best to use a water spritzer to re-dampen it before ironing. Be sure not use the steam from a steam iron to dampen the silk. This can create marks or other problems. Never use a drying machine to dry any silks.

IRONING SILKS.
Always iron silk while it is damp. Use a medium setting. It is best to use a thin handkerchief layer to cover and protect the silk before ironing. This will prevent any inadvertent marks or spots created by an unclean iron or a very hot iron.

HOW TO MACHINE WASH
Most silks and pashminas can be safely machine washed at home with the use of a Washer Bag by Royal Silk. Washer Bag by Royal Silk is currently available in two sizes and can be purchased on this web site. The instructions of how to use the washer bag are relatively simple and on the washer bag. All you need is a mild soapy detergent and maybe some white vinegar. The small size is suitable for a single blouse, skirt, or small sweater or several panties or bras or scarves. The larger size will accommodate several blouses or shells or skirts.

DRYING MACHINES
Do not use drying machines to dry silks or pashminas.
